Week #26 in Texas - Hereford, TX

Wow! This week has been...a week. Kind of rough in some ways, but i love love picking out the miracles and blessing in the rubble of what feels like our lives momentarily. We had some set backs with some investigators and a little bit frustrated with return appointments. Ha, we think sometimes people think that we aren’t people, and will just not show up to appointments and blow us off. It’s all part of the work, but it’s hard because you just want these people to understand the severity of baptism and how important it is, and so that has been a challenge for us this week to reset expectations and help them to see how important it is. But it’s been great to watch people realize that they really do need to make this a priority in their lives.

We had a former investigator call us that had been taught by Elders since 2010, and said he wanted us to go up to Friona and teach him a lesson. So we went up there and he said "i want you to teach me so i can decide if i want to be a Mormon or not!" and we were like "well okay!" so we started teaching him to restoration but it got way off track with his questions and in to deep doctrine and stuff. i get super nervous when that happens cause they try to ask really hard questions to stump us, but the spirit was able to guide us so strongly, that we were able to turn to scriptures so quickly and help show him things, and by the end he wasnt asking any more questions. We then asked him to pray about the things we talked about, and he said that he never would with any of the Elders that taught him, but that he felt something different with us and that we had a different spirit and that he would pray about things. It was really cool! We didn’t feel like we really taught any of that lesson, it was all by the Spirit. It was amazing. i love being an instrument in the Lord’s hands!

We had a wonderful lesson with a less active named Bell, who never went back to church since the day she was baptized. She struggled with alot of things, and had her 2 year old baby pass away about a year ago, and we were able to bring a member, and we taught her the Plan of Salvation again and were able to have her bare her testimony. What we didn’t know was that this particular member had had 4 misscarriages and really stuggled, and she was able to share her extremely strong testimony about the plan and how it helps her everyday in her life. We didn’t know she went through that, but the Lord did, and knew that her testimony would help Bell. The Spirit was so strong and we were able to see the Lord’s hand at work with her. The Spirit is so amazing!

We were so glad to be able to watch the Christmas Devotional last night! I love being able to hear from our leaders and to feel such a strong presence that they have. I loved Elder Christofferson’s talk. It was wonderful! We are so blessed to be able to have leaders under the direction of Jesus Christ to listen to! This season is just wonderful and I hope that we can take the things we learned from the devotional and apply into our whole season and not just have a secular Chirstmas and a spiritual Christmas, but that the whole season can be spiritual!

Thank you for all the support! Don’t forget to share the “He is the Gift" video with everyone! i love you all!

Love,

Hermana Bleyl
